My students learn their science concepts better when they are given the opportunity to creatively summarize what we are learning in a one page format. They get to restate and explain the concept and then draw an illustration that helps their explanation. For my higher level learners it reinforces the concepts and gives them an opportunity to let their creativity shine through. For my lower level learners it helps give them some clarity by illustrating as well as explaining, and for my English Language learners it gives them an opportunity to connect the English words with pictures they understand. Many of my students come from households that have limited resources and can't afford the extra supplies. Having the supplies will allow all my students to have access to the materials needed to show their creativity.
