My students work very hard to learn new words and vocabulary not only for academic use but for conversational use as well. Very rarely do they see characters in stories that contain deaf/hard of hearing characters. I would love for them to be able to open a book and relate to these characters immediately; therefore sparking more of a desire to learn how to read. The pandemic has definitely put a new twist on what teaching is like and what the upcoming school year will bring. Whether we are online, in school or somewhere in-between, I will read these books every day to them to expose my students to new vocabulary and different types of stories.
