As a fifth grade dual teacher, I must provide my students with books with various genres in Spanish and that they can connect with. My students will not be returning to school this Fall and I would love for them to continue the love of reading in Spanish even through distance learning. Esperanza Rising is an excellent book that talks about the Great Depression and how it affected many migrant workers. Not only does this book cover Language Arts but can also be used to connect other subjects such as social studies.
