Learning from home can be a challenge during the coronavirus pandemic. I encourage my students to find a comfy place at home to enjoy a story that reflects the power of the human spirit during these difficult times. With the novel, Island of the Blue Dolphins students will begin the year broadening their understanding of how to overcome life's challenges. A principal expectation of the unit is that students will develop their skills in reading, writing, listening and oral communication, as well as in reasoning and critical thinking. Students will also be expected to provide clear answers to questions and well-constructed explanations. While the coronavirus has changed our students' learning experience, we are up to the challenge & thank you for the support.
