In my first year of teaching, I learned that I absolutely love composition notebooks... and my students do too. In the age of Zoom and Google Drive, I find that students do not always have a opportunity to just write down their thoughts and claims on pieces of paper. This year, I want to continue to engage students by offering them their own physical workspace. The composition notebook is more than a notebook: it is their own personalized journey into understanding the connections that can be formed within our world. As an English teacher, I understand that the connections we make in literature are beneficial to all of us as lifelong learners. As an English teacher during the pandemic, I realize that the time to write down our thoughts will become more limited with virtual instruction. I want my students to still have that opportunity when they come to school two days a week.
