Students today struggle with learning appropriate social and emotional skills. Many students are experiencing anger and are trying to learn to cope with traumatic life events. Never before has the need for purposeful social/emotional instruction been needed. Interactive read alouds are a great way to instruct students in these important skills for life. Important topics such as learning and understanding the difference between feelings and emotions, learning how to demonstrate courage, teamwork, perseverance, honesty and respect will be taught. These student centered books will attract the variety of ages that are in my classroom. The hands-on activities in the educators guide will provide additional application in a meaningful way.
