One of my families has generously offered to donate a Swivl C1 Robot system to my classroom to enhance our distance learning and allow me to teach live with a tracking and audio device to freely move about our classroom. The students will be able to feel like they are really with me! I will not just be sitting in front of my computer screen. I will be up using all of my resources and singing and dancing right along with them. This Swivl needs an iPad to be able to run the application and film me throughout the instructional day. A Swivl will allow my students to see me moving about their classroom, making for a very engaging, interactive, and authentic learning experience even while learning from home. The Swivl combined with the iPad will then continue my instruction via Google Meets when we return to in person learning and provide the same distance learning to students who are not comfortable to return to the classroom setting yet. Other uses for the iPad includes sharing best practices with my colleagues as Staff Mentor, storing recorded lessons to share with families, an evaluation tool to add voice notes to videos, and supporting innovation in a primary, public school classroom showing students that anything is possible! Our district provides managed iPads to our students, but I do not have a teacher iPad to use solely for instruction. In order to execute my entire distance learning project supported by my district, I will need to obtain an iPad that will then be donated to my school district and approved by our Governing Board for my professional, classroom use to make this all happen. I appreciate anything that you are able to contribute to this project to benefit my students!
