My students are ROCK STARS. They are brand new third and fourth graders who just completed their first week of school via remote learning. They showed up every single day eager to learn and are extremely anxious to get some good books into their hands. They are teacher pleasers. Yet many come from low socio economic backgrounds as over sixty percent of our school's population is currently on free and reduced lunch. That number is rising daily with many families incurring loss of income due to the current pandemic. For many, school is their refuge and safe haven. Be it a remote classroom or a physical one, our classroom community is a place where all students feel loved and respected, and for many this is where they "get their buckets filled" with confidence, hope, and beliefs that they can and will learn.
