In our 'new world' of virtual/distance learning, being prepared with basic school supplies can be quite difficult for many of my students. Thinking ahead, to the potential of transitioning between in-school and virtual learning, will be an even greater challenge for my students to be prepared with basic supplies on a daily basis. On any given day in my classroom, students are asking each other to borrow or 'share' pencils, erasers, and sharpeners. We also only have one 'class set' of calculators used by all of my students throughout the day. However, we will no longer be able to allow sharing of any supplies. This means many of my students will not be prepared daily for class. Having to then transition to 'work from home', my students will not have the basics of pencils, sharpeners, etc.. to complete their work. I heard this many times last Spring. I would like to provide my students with some essentials to start off the school year, to take one less burden off of our many families that struggle.
