The ability to access books that are relevant to my students' lives and their experiences is critical to their emotional well-being during these difficult and challenges times. By providing my students with their own copy of the novel we will be using this year to encourage discussions about inclusion, acceptance, social change, and cultural understanding, I will be able to help my students focus on experiences that are relevant to their lives. Since many of my students are low income and not able to provide their own copies of the novel, the books will be checked out to students at the beginning of the year, so they can have their own copies outside of the classroom. Using the Book Source app, I can check out the books provided by this project to ensure students are given the resources they need to be successful in the classroom and during distance learning through the year. Additionally, Book Source will help me track the books so that they can be checked out to any of my students who need it over several school years. The audio CD will allow me to provide videos of audio reading to help my students who struggle with reading or who are Enlgish Language Learners.
