My fourth graders are very energetic learners and these active learning stools will give them opportunities to wiggle and get extra energy out as they are seated and help increase focus and attention in class. They will also provide flexible seating options and be used individually at student desks when needed and in a small group table setting with other students and the teacher. The sit-upon floor cushions will be incorporated during learning centers to give students a chance to move from the traditional desk to a quiet place to read or complete their work within the classroom. Not only will these new seating options help create a more comfortable learning environment for my students, but they will also help adhere to school social distancing guidelines during this time. Students can easily move both the stools and cushions to be safely distanced within the classroom as needed. Also, both stools and the vinyl cushions will be easy to sanitize daily with disinfecting wipes and sprays to keep the classroom germ-free.
