Regardless of how learning looks come fall, having relatable stories for students to choose from will absolutely increase engagement. Increased engagement will give them the desire to work on the reading skills they need to develop--comprehension, vocabulary and stamina. This will help them increase their overall reading level and feel more confident reading with peers in their classes. Having a wide variety of books to choose from will allow my students to engage with text that matters. In essence, they can stay engaged and become the readers they were always meant to be!
