These young students spent nearly a whole year without any sort of physical education, or even physical activity at home, due to pandemic lockdowns and the limitations of distance learning. With the materials I've chosen for this project, my students will get a wide variety of access to learning and practicing locomotor movement, body management, and social interaction playing with others. Some examples include: logs and stumps for balance, hoops for spatial awareness and jumping, frisbees for hand-eye coordination and working with a partner, etc. While there has undoubtedly been a big impact on students' literacy and mathematics growth and achievement, the same goes for students' physical activity and movement. Time is overdue to get these students MOVING!
