When our school was forced to close due to COVID19, all of my teaching and therapy materials were locked in my room. Not knowing what teaching is going to look like upon our return to school in the fall, the items chosen are versatile enough to use with both distance learning and in person learning. My students have a variety of needs, including difficulty with articulation, vocabulary, stuttering, phonemic awareness, following directions, grammar and sentence formulation. The headset and microphone will make it easier for the children to hear me on the computer, and for me to hear them. This is especially important for children working on articulation and speech production skills. In addition, having them hear me better will help them to attend to the lessons better. The TeachersPayTeachers gift card will allow me to purchase materials that I can use for online teaching, including BoomCards, no print therapy materials, games, and parent handouts. The alphabet tubs are amazing and versatile tools that can be used for the children to learn the basic foundational skills associated with reading, including identifying upper and lower case letters, identifying beginning sounds, initial sound sorting, building vocabulary skills, increasing expressive language and describing skills, and categorization skills. They can also be used for children to work on their target speech sounds, or for children who stutter to practice using fluency strategies to gain smooth speech. The chosen items can be used with all of my students to improve their communication skills.
