My students love to read books and I love to give them as many opportunities to read a wide variety of books in our classroom library. Books are like windows to the world and allow my students to learn not only about others, but also themselves. By having diverse books in our classroom library, my students have the opportunity to connect to characters they can relate to. By seeing characters like them in books, students can feel more valued as people. More diverse books will also give the students access to other cultures than their own. They will be able to see the world from other perspectives and learn to accept and love that everyone is different.
