Amidst the lock down music became one of the most important aspects of maintaining a sense of community; from apartment balcony singing neighbors in Italy to neighborhood kids playing from their front porch. The pandemic has changed the way musicians can interact together. Young musicians are learning the basics and learning how to make music together. They are now learning distanced at home and in the classroom. One of the challenges is making sure they all have the needed materials to learn. Many cannot afford a book and share with others. Several students share school instruments and now will not be able to play on a daily basis. The drum sticks will allow them to continue to play and learn whether at home or at school. The book will allow them to continue to grow and continue the sense of community and family they have cultivated in the school band program.
