My school is a title one school and many of the students struggle with buying the school supplies they need. Many of them come to school with out a binder, paper, pencil, markers, and so on. I have managed to keep my classroom supplies a float. It's been difficult, but I have managed. My students' have asked if they can take the manipulatives home to do their homework. As much as I want to say yes, I can't. I have to use them for the next Math class. I Teach Math 5th grade and I teach 70 students daily. I have to make sure I have enough manipulatives for each student. We do a lot of hands on with math and would like to provide these items for students to check out and use at home as needed.
I also want to make my classroom more alive and vivid to help engage my students. I have a data wall, word wall, and focus wall that needs more color and life. having the Cricut will help me create anchor charts and math groups become more visual for the students to see and use. The Word wall is made for students' to reference back to math strategies we have learned. It also has Math vocabulary words listed. The data wall is a visual of each students growth by number and color. I would like to create vinyl colored coded numbers to re-use each year. A certain color and number is assigned to each student and they can see their growth from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. Each student has their personal goal and this is a reminder and it encourages them to try harder on their benchmark test. Many of my students look forward to this.
