As a first-year teacher, I was not expecting this upcoming year to be so different. However, I believe that for every new teacher building up their classroom library is SO important, not just for the teacher but for the students. In my cart, you will find that I have added a couple of books that I would love to read to them. Whether that be via zoom or in person or something in between. I know that asking for a book for each individual student is too much, so I rather get more books to share with them.
Even though we will be practicing social distancing and distance learning, the materials above will bring joy to every student in my classroom.
I have added a couple of items that I know will for sure be needed. An example of an important item is the Base 10 Hands Manipulative. Even though I only requested 5, I want to eventually build up to have enough of this item for each individual student. The amount of 5 will be for me to have and call small group or individual students up to a small table in the back for extra support. Afterward, the item will be disinfected. I would like to have each student with their own materials to help prevent the spread of any germs that they might have encountered. That is why I have requested the Dry Erase Board Class set. This is to help every student have their own and practice distance learning.
Even though this upcoming year will be different, it's our job as teachers to help them learn the "new" way of social distancing and teaching them the safety steps they need to take to be safe. They are small, but they are smart.
