The overall purpose of these Chromebooks is multifunctional. It will allow students to work in a variety of ways whether that is in stations (either with a partner or independently) or to interact with the group through a digital whiteboard from their seat. In this pandemic, it is important that students be able to maintain their physical distance and sanitation of school items, but still, be able to interact with the material in a way that is unique to them. This digital whiteboard access will allow them to draw and write on the shared whiteboard. Through this, they will be able to express their ideas and thoughts in a manner that works for them. Having a touch screen will also allow them to write with a stylus pen and utilize a program that will automatically convert their writing to text which will benefit the students who struggle to write legibly. This allows them to contribute to class discussions without having to feel embarrassed about their penmanship. These chromebooks will also help me as a teacher deliver evidence and research-based interventions to my students. Throughout this pandemic I have been transferring many of the practices I use face-to-face to digital versions, some with even more success. By having these Chromebooks, I can continue to utilize the digital components that were most impactful.
