Writing is so important and can have such an academic impact on options that students may want to pursue in their life. Essays are a important part of high school and college entrance applications as well research reports and papers written for all sorts of subjects in school. I want to start a project where students can enjoy their writing while practicing and developing it everyday. I would use the journals through distance learning by using Google Classroom. Every morning, I will assign a writing prompt for students to develop and write in their journals. My students would then have a Zoom meeting where we would go over the writing prompt. I may cover subjects in school. I could also give them free writing days where they can write about anything they want to. I may have them write about holidays or events involving Black History Month. If students have to write an essay or informative piece of writing, I would maybe divide this process into steps for the students. These Zoom meetings may lead into lessons using the writing prompt. I may have the students share the writing during the Zoom meeting. I would also have individual student meetings, where I could point out strategies or proofreading techniques to improve their writing. Writing is so important in the academic development of a student. The confidence they bring to their writing will impact whether they continue and further their education.
