These books will help me create a more inclusive classroom. Many of my students are underrepresented in children's literature, as they do not see characters that look like or have similar experiences as them. By donating to this project you will help my students to be more engaged, learn to have empathy for others, and have greater academic achievement. These books will be used during read-aloud time that will be followed by a conversation about the book and a written response. The books will also be available for independent reading. By having a wide selection of books with diverse characters, my students will have the ability to select books that interest them and make them feel more connected.
