This year we have had to be extra careful with books. Also, students came to first grade significantly below grade level because of the pandemic. Due to this, we are in need of some more books that are on the children's reading level. Studies show that students who read 20 or more minutes a day are more likely to score well on standardized tests. Having more access to books will allow their vocabulary to increase. This will help them not only do well in school in the future but learn that reading can be fun. My goal is for students to leave at the end of the year knowing how to read and enjoy reading books! We are well on our way to that goal, but more books would help!
