First graders can be active, so it is important that they are always engaged in their learning. A classroom rug is a place for students to come together and engage in learning. The rug will help to foster a sense of community in the classroom and bring everyone together to one place. This rug will allow me to give my students options in seating. It will ensure that all students have a designated place that is their own to sit. It will allow them to move throughout the classroom for morning meeting, small group, and whole group instruction.
