As a teacher of elementary students, I think it is important to have conversations about what is going on in the world in a healthy way to promote love, acceptance, and understanding. Many times these conversations are prompted through the books that we read. My students would benefit greatly from having continued social-emotional lessons that are thought-provoking and require depth and complexity. These books will allow me to read to my students remotely and continue to build a positive multicultural community. Once we return to school, these culturally relevant and diverse books will become part of our morning meetings and will help foster social-emotional growth for every student.

About my class
