I chose each of these books because I saw a need within my classroom library. My students deserve to see themselves in the books that they read. They deserve to see other people and other cultures represented in their books. With the various titles I've selected, we will cultivate class discussions about issues such as helping others in need, fighting for justice, seeing the beauty in those who look differently than them, and accepting and loving those outside of their bubble. I want my students to see how beautiful this world is, and I believe that these books will help encourage them to think deeply about the power that they hold inside of themselves.
