Through the organization, World Music Drumming, I have found an alternative to holding traditional choir rehearsals that will keep students engaged in music in essential ways. The curriculum incorporates rhythm patterns from cultures around the world that come together quickly in student drum circles, allowing for improvisation, leadership, collaboration, and development of strong unity among a diverse group of students. As large gatherings remain out of the question, I intend to share video recordings of these students' performed drum circles with the community to further spread the sense of perseverance and joy.
