Flexible seating allows students to take ownership of their learning. When independent work is taking place, students choose a location in the classroom that works best for them. Currently, my students are sitting at their desks or choosing to work on the “cold” floor with a Chromebook. Flexible seating allows students to be creative, proactive, and productive. Learners are engaged, stay on tasks, and get more work done. Students have the freedom to stand up, which makes the bloodstream flow better; the brain is oxygenated for optimal concentration. It helps learners to be more proactive and productive. Flexible seating gives learners a sense of independence and autonomy and encourages intellectual curiosity. The cozy lounger that I have selected will help my students by giving them better, comfortable seating options than just sitting on the floor or sitting at their desk.
