As we plan to return to school in the fall, we have so many unanswered questions and a feeling of uncertainty. The one thing I am certain of is starting off the year meeting the social/emotional needs of my students and building our kind and caring classroom community. I am looking to expand my classroom library using books that are geared toward social/emotional awareness and diversity. Gaining exposure to a variety of diverse books will help my students become more mindful of our classroom community and those around them. I strive for a classroom where we all except, appreciate and love the differences in each other. Creating an environment of kindness and friendship will encourage my students to have conversations about tough topics, where all their voices are heard.
