My students regularly use "mentor" texts to guide their inquiry assignments as researchers, critical readers, writers, and civic-minded community members. Having books that represent many stories allows my students to make meaning of their own and others' perspectives and experiences. We also thrive on texts that help us access the stories of life-long learners and change-makers, highlighting the human context for the academic content we immerse ourselves in. Thank you for helping our readers gain a broader perspective as books are a powerful tool in enabling students to gain a better understanding of both their own culture and the cultures of others.
