So, yes we are in a global pandemic but, we have also learned that we are doing a disservice to our students especially our children of color. We need to do better. We need to have conversations with our students about the gender and racial dynamics of the world they live in. They need to see everyone represented through literature. We need to do better and surround students with books that model diversity and inclusion. We need to immerse our students with books that reflect and honor their lives. We need to do better. Our students need to be able to see themselves as the characters in the story. Representation matters.
