These materials will help make a difference in our classroom by giving us different play items to practice natural social play. Coming into kindergarten without the skills to share, wait our turn, or play appropriately is tough! However, with the use of the Magnatiles, students will learn how to wait for their turn to build and add pieces. Also, Play-Doh will not only increase sharing skills due to the use of tools, but will increase fine motor skills and sensory needs. Due to the fact that all of these play items are fun and engaging as well, students will be able to utilize them as reinforcement. After completing their tasks or showing desired behavior, they will have the chance to have a break with what they choose. They'll also be encouraged to use their imagination which will help spark sporadic vocalizations and language! These play items will help bridge the gap in their social and communication skills as well as reinforce good behavior.
