As I begin my journey in first grade teaching, I have received a few books. However, the books received, lack diversity, inclusion and anti-racist topics. This is unfortunate, therefore I'm asking for donations of books which include the voices of people of color, inclusive topics, and anti-racism themes. These books will be embed into our Distance Learning, and/or during read alongs in our Zoom book club meetings for the 2020-21 school year. Please consider how crucial it is to diversify our bookshelves and how vital it is to have these books in our classroom libraries and in our curriculum. As a new teacher and with budget cuts, I'm not presently able to get the rich and authentic books which speak to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with your help- we can change this!
