As students return to in-person learning, they need extra emotional support. Some have lost loved ones to COVID and others have anxiety due to missing an entire year of learning and being around people again. My job as the school counselor is to support them socially and emotionally. Having a classroom for guidance lessons that is welcoming and comfortable is the first step. The bean bags will provide students with a comfy and relaxing environment and the carpet is a bright and fun reminder of character traits we focus on with our students.
