Sensory input allows students with sensory needs to do their best thinking. With the opportunity for sensory breaks through swinging, deep pressure, and other means, students can regain focus by having those needs met. For students with sensory processing disorders and autism, sensory input is not just a reward or incentive. It is essential for their learning and to feel safe and secure at school. My students gain a greater level of security, comfort and focus when their sensory needs are met. The products I have selected for my students will help them meet their sensory needs. The rocking chair provides deep pressure so students can feel safe and secure. The swing will provide a level of input that is difficult to describe unless you have the pleasure of knowing someone with sensory needs! Just know, a swing would be a big deal for my students!
