Books are an amazing way to provide our students with ideas that they are so desperate to learn about. Reading helps us to better understand not only ourselves but also those around us. We know the value of seeing ourselves represented in books and how it helps to promote a sense of identity and value in ourselves. It is so important that children are given the opportunity to see themselves in the books they read. Not only is is beneficial for students to see themselves but also to see others who don't look like them. Allowing students the chance to explore someone else's life and experiences helps their development of empathy and compassion. I hope that this will help build our classroom community as well. This sense of community will build a safe classroom environment filled with inclusivity where we can celebrate diversity.

About my class
