Cinder is the first book in "The Lunar Chronicles" by Marissa Meyer and is a sci-fi spin off of "Cinderella." The 9th grade English class will read this engaging novel both in class and at home. Many standards can be studied such as characterization and theme while connections can be made to the students lives as they read about a teenage girl who overcomes great adversity. This novel has the power to instill a love of reading within students. Many of whom have never read a full length novel previously.
