A big part of learning nowadays involves movement. Students, especially young ones, have a hard time sitting in one spot for the duration of a school day. Having a big carpet that allows each student their own individual spot offers the opportunity to teach students outside of their desks. In my classroom, our carpet is like our dinner table: it is where we all gather to discuss our day and express how we are feeling. It is essential for a strong classroom environment to have an inviting carpet where friends and classmates can gather.
