Scholastic News Magazine will be used as a supplement to our current reading program. This magazine connects events to the second grade curriculum while helping students practice their reading skills and learning different "text features" from reading the magazine. In addition, non-fiction reading is often times challenging for my students to become engage due to the complexity of the text. With Scholastic News, interactive videos, games and questions are geared at their level of engagement. These materials will help my students with the enrichment that they need, it will prepare them for reading fiction texts and using text features to analyze what they are reading.
