By implementing these texts into my lessons, my students will be immersed in literature where they see themselves. We read many interesting texts to get their creative voices stirring for writing projects, as well as to bring about a better place for us all to live together. I feel these texts from people of color addressing the strife they have faced will be very beneficial to all of my students. Adding these texts to my classroom will give my students the voice and connection they need to feel empowered. I look forward to working with my students this year to address and ponder ways we can make a difference in our world.
