I struggled with parts of science in school because it was boring and hard. I thought the only way to learning something was to take notes and memorize facts. It wasn't until high school that I came to appreciate and love things about the world around us. This is one reason I became a teacher. I wanted to excite kids about things that surround them everyday. I want my students to leave my class understanding the WHY instead of just memorizing facts. I want to transform my classroom into an engaging and immersive environment through gamification and game-based learning. By using games and different learning strategies, I will make learning fun for my students everyday. I have already taken steps toward gamifying my classroom and the feedback from students have been fantastic. Students have played memory, hangman, Kahoot, and Quizlet live to test their content knowledge. These new supplies will expand my classroom gaming experience and push students toward a more engaging learning experience.
