As an English teacher, it is quite difficult to get non-readers engaged in reading. My goal is to introduce the novel Unwind by Neal Shusterman to these students to help them to learn to love reading. This book will not only help with their reading proficiency, but it will also raise so many interesting and thought provoking issues that will drive classroom discussion. All it takes is a single book to change the way a student views reading. I need to get these books into the hands of my students. My 9th graders need to have a strong jumping off point to spring them forward for the remainder of their high school careers.
