The books in this project will help us celebrate Heritage months such as Black History Month, Women's History Month, Native American Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month, etc. Focusing on the history of these cultures, learning about their gifts, as well as historical and current struggles, will broaden the young minds of 2nd graders to make them more appreciative of those around them. Through this projects, students will have access to books about people that are different than them and celebrate those differences. Students will either learn in a whole group or small groups and discuss why our differences are important, why the history of these differences is important and how we can appreciate and remember them.
