I remember being in 2nd grade and reading a Nancy Drew book. Finally, a main character that was smart and strong and looked like me. I was hooked and became a life long reader. I'm trying to build a class library that will help my kids connect with characters that they can relate to. During reading, our kids often sit and read for 20-30 minutes at a time, sharing their discoveries with their friends. Donating to this project will make it easier for my kiddos to say things like "wow I could be a scientist, too" or "hey she looks like my sister!" If I can build excitement for books, there is no limit to what my kids can learn.
