Over the last month, our children have witnessed more than any child should when it comes to community, ethnicity, what's right and wrong, and how adults handle tough situations. Our cultural differences have been thrust to the forefront. As a result, I have chosen many books to help teach how to be more empathetic to others and to embrace people's differences. Children, as well as adults, need to learn to rejoice and celebrate differences, rather than to create isolation, separation, segregation. I have had students of so many races, nationalities, abilities, and disabilities. These "differences" makes us unique and special. They should be celebrated. In the end, we are all human.
