The focus of my class is to make school fun and interesting to students who have skills and and aptitude for the industrial trades. I am passionate about the trades and want to let young people know there are good careers out there where they can be successful and support their family in the trades. With this CNC machine students will gain an understanding of computer design and see how a machine can cut out materials without a person needing to run it. These skills are used by machinists, engineers and woodworkers in the everyday. In my class students will use this CNC router to make models or prototypes for solutions for a community problem they have identified. An example could be students cutting out face shields in plastic for the local hospital because of a shortage.
