Phonics, phonemic awareness and the manipulating through phonemic awareness build great readers, but readers cannot read without tools. Every donation allows these students to grow in their ability to read, to write, and to manipulate objects. Teachers pay teachers is a wonderful resource for not only teachers, but students as well. Through the use of the TPT gift card I will be able to purchase and make phonics activities that my students will use in small groups and centers. We know drill and kill is ineffective when teaching, so with these TPT activities, phonics lessons will become fun, creative and hands on. Books are the foundation of education and without books in the classroom, without tools to help build good readers, students will be missing a world of opportunity, a world of exploration and a world where their wildest dreams can come true. Building the skills necessary for students to be readers, not only allows them to read books that will take them all over the world, into the deepest parts of the sea and into other cultures, it contributes to every other subject they will learn. Reading builds good writers and it helps students understand and articulate their mathematical mind. Help me grow a class full of readers!
