My classroom library contains books collected throughout my 19 year teaching career. I am looking to refresh my literature collection with new book titles. Not only am I looking to add new titles to my collection, I want to include texts that have culturally diverse characters. By including books in my classroom library that have culturally diverse characters, my students will be exposed to various backgrounds and each ethnicity will be able to find a book that appeals to them personally or that they are curious about. This will help me develop social awareness in my students.
