In today's world, we need to involve our students and help them see the importance of being an active community member. When students are young, it's time to instill values and strong ties to the community. I will provide hands-on lessons to the students about service-learning and citizenship so that students will understand the importance of being an active participant in their community. Once this is done, students will be able to develop a plan for the school year so that each quarter they are creating an event for service learning with their group and/or the student body. We will create shirts to wear so that when we are out in the community others can see the students and be a part of the project as well. We will create fliers for some of the activities so that the entire student body can get involved in giving back to our community. Letting students know that they can make a difference in the day to day life of a "stranger' is vital. We must let students take charge and see how they can come with creative strategies to help others. We will empower the students to be the change they wish to see in the world.
