With the current Black Lives Matter movement I am doing my part to learn more and to take opportunities to create change. One way I can contribute is to offer my students - who live in a predominantly white community - opportunities that promote diversity education, inclusion, and connection to all of humankind. By donating to this project, you will be supplying my classroom with a variety of fiction and nonfiction books which will engage learners in conversations about inclusion, books about understanding differences, and books that expose students to a variety of cultures. As a classroom teacher I have seen the power of stories for children. Each day we read books aloud and it is the best part of our day. These books have lasting impacts on my classroom culture, students understanding of the world, and their application of social skills.
