My students' learning will grow through reading diverse books. Living in a small town in Minnesota many of my students have not had the chance to experience the world outside of their little bubble. These books I have selected will give my students the opportunity to learn new perspectives. My students need books in which they can see themselves. They also need new perspectives that they can either step through a door and experience or look through a window and experience; books will provide this opportunity to my students. My students need to have books available to them that provide them with the windows, mirror and doors analogy. Windows means that students are looking through a window and seeing the world in a different way. They are learning through the book about another perspective. A mirror means that the students are seeing themselves in the book. They have the same perspective that the book characters have. A door means that students are stepping into to another world and fully understand the new perspective that they are experiencing through reading.
